Welcome race fans to the start of the 2007 racing season. We have just ran the first race of the season, at Hobe Sound Speedway. This is the first season that Wyld Bore Racing has ever raced on asphalt. Before this we ran on dirt/clay tracks around Florida. Coming into this weekend we did not have high expectations since it was a new track and a different racing surface we were used too. At the speedway, they run two practice heats, two qualifying heats, and the feature race. We did well in the practice heats, those are mainly so we can set up the kart for the qualifying and the feature. The qualifying went very well, the first heat Jonathon won, and the second heat he came in second, after avoid a couple of close calls with spinning karts. Doing so well gave the race team a morale boost, having not expected much, but to go out there and get a feel for the racing surface and the track itself. The driver did excellent adapting to the race track. The race feature went well too. Jonathon got the pole position, and when the green flag dropped he pulled to a five kart lead. He kept the lead for the majority of the race, until the handling of the kart went south. When he was avoiding the crashes in the qualifying heats he got into one of the other karts and knocked the front end of the kart out just enough to make it difficult for him to keep the kart on the track. After trying for so long fighting the handling muscle cramps and fatigue set in and also the handling reduced the speed. When the checkered flag flew Jonathon had lost two positions finishing third. All in all it was an excellent day at the race track. It being the first race out of the season and doing this well on a new track, the competition better watch out cause there is a WYLD BORE coming through!
