Two races have past since our last entry, due to a flu bug that has been going around. A whole lot has happened since the start of the race season. To start with, we had a race on January 27 at Hobe Sound Speedway. It was an eventful day. We ran pretty decent in practice and the qualifying heats. When it came to the final heat it seems we just got a little ahead of ourselves. There were other classes of karts ahead of us, and it looked like a demolition derby, karts going all over the place, spreading hay all over the track. (They put hay in front of the tires to help the impact, and hoping to cause less damage to the go karts when they wreck.) They got the track cleaned up as well as they could and the Jr. Champ class took the track. There were six karts in all and we were on the Pole. The green came out and almost as soon as it came out the yellow flag appeared for a spinning kart coming out of turn four. After a pace lat we went green again for a couple of laps. In those couple of laps we fell to second. We went green again after another couple of pace laps.I had a good restart but it wasn't enough to over take the number 17. I tried high and  I tried low but couldn't get the force to over take him.  As we were rounding  turn 3 going in to turn 4  I tried to the high side again, but I got a little to high and my right tires got into the marbles on the top of the race track. (Marbles are little balls of rubber debris that settles on the top of the turns. When you hit them it's like you just hit a patch of ice in the road.) When I hit the marbles I lost it, spun around and slammed into the tires. I tried to finish the race but hitting those tires bent the front end up so bad the kart was un drivable. We took a last place finish packed up and went home to fix the damage. It was disappointing, but things happen. If stuff like this never happens, it means I'm not racing hard enough.

Our first race of the month Febuary 3rd. It has been one week since my wreck. My pit crew and I got our kart all fixed. There was quite a bit of damage caused by hitting a couple of tires. When we got to the track we put the kart on the scales to make sure everything was a ok. We had to make a few adjustments, but nothing to big. I ran better then any of us expected in the pratice heats, we had to tweek a couple of things. We went out and qualified, I didn't do as good as I would have hoped, but I got the outside pole. My hopes were high going into the final heat, after the heartbreack of last week I was bound and determined not to have that happen again. At the drop of the green flag we were bunched in a pack for a lap and coming off of turn four, the same place i wrecked a week ealier, I cut down to the bottom of the track and took the lead. I led the majority of the race. With five laps to go number 47 caught up to me, going into turn three, we were racing so hard we got into each other I went spinning backwards and slammed into the tired in the middle of turn three and four, and went off the track into the grass. Number 47 spun around and went into the infield , number 88 took the lead, and 25 spun when 47 was coming onto the track and hit the same tires I hit a week earlier and her day was over. She took a lot of damage. The caution stayed out for 5 or 6 pace laps while they cleaned the track up. 88 was first I was second and 47 was third. The green flag dropped and and we were single file into turns one and two, going down the back stretch we were still single file. We broke apart going into turn three coming out of turn four we were trying to go three wide, I cut down to the inside and took the lead. So the running order was me 88 and then 47 trying to get aroung 88. Three laps to go I was pulling ahead by three or four kart lengths, 47 got around 88 and was gaining white flag was in the air one to go. I still had the lead by about two kart lengths coming out of turn four I knew he couldn't catch me whoohooo my first win! I took the checkered flag and did my victory lap at full speed. At this moment all of the hard work my pit crew did and all the hard work I have done seemed so well worth it. This is the first win with mant more to come!
